The Wait

8:40am--Oh no! I'm running late! I rush out the door, run down the stairs, and head to the subway station. If I get the first train out, I may just be 20 minutes late.

It's 8:43am. The train arrives at 8:45am and I'm a few steps away from the entrance. I fly down the steps, through the turnstiles and down the last flight of steps to the platform.

8:45 a.m.--Where's the train? There’s a large group of people towards the middle and end of the platform. It seems like the train is running late…Great.

8:47 a.m.--Time cannot go any faster and cannot take any longer. Is it possible to split time into two halves and control two objects at once? Is it possible for time to make me later and force the train to make me wait longer?

8:49 a.m.--I am irritated. What's taking so long? Why today? I fold my arms and sigh. Looking from afar, I'm sure I look like an impatient mess. The tunnel is still dark. I turn to move closer to the middle of the platform and bump into someone.

8:50am--"Watch It!" I look at who bumped me and freeze. A sexy, tall, medium-build businessman looks worried and checks to see if I’m alright. I slowly nod and say nothing. He apologizes. I couldn't bring myself to say anything but blush. His smile is bright and radiant. I melt. He goes in his pocket and pulls out a crisp, white business card.  "I feel bad. Can I make it up to you? Give me a call when you're available." He smiles and I take his card.

8:54 a.m.--The local and express trains come roaring into the station. FINALLY! I look at my new friend. He points to the local. I point to the express. Doors open and we step onto our trains. I look back and see him watching me. We wave and he signals for me to call him as the train doors close. Our trains race off and he disappears into the darkness....
